Tuesday, October 27, 2009 – Retired members of SEIU Local 521′s Kern County units met to discuss a new Retired Members Chapter of our union.
Local 521 organizing director Chuck Waide said it’s important for retirees to stay involved, because they’re still affected by union matters. “Our retirement plans are under attack.” The Kern chapter will meet during the day on the first Thursday of each month, Canion said.
“It’s nice to have the union thinking about the retirees and what our concerns are,” said Nadine Limi, a retired court clerk from Kern County Superior Court. “I’m very worried about our health care and pensions.”
