Food for All is a ton-and-a-half of success!

Loading the food truckSEIU 521 members know that hunger isn’t just an issue during the holidays. During summer break, children who depend on school lunches often face malnourishment.

So members collected more than 1.5 tons of food, plus a pile of cash, to help restock food bank pantries. The food and money collected will provide more than 7,000 meals to children and families across a half-dozen counties, from Monterey to Kern.

Services on life support, need existing revenue

Visalia Standing Up for CaliforniaThere have already been $12 billion in state budget cuts to critical services this year. If we’re going to prevent more cuts to vital services, we must maintain our existing revenues.

That’s why we’ve joined thousands in the Stand Up for California campaign. Our shared goal is to maintain the existing revenues that are necessary to save services and protect jobs. Many diverse voices across the state – seniors, business owners, law enforcement officials and others – have put aside their differences to join in this effort to help close the budget gap and move our recovery forward.

SEIU 521 members are reaching out to constituents of key Republican legislators and urging them to tell their legislators: No more cuts.
