APALA convention draws 1,000

APALA’s 11th bienual convention in Oakland July 21-24 drew scores of labor activists from across the country, including a delegation from Cambodia. More than 1,000 marched on Saturday to Oakland City Hall calling for a fair economy, social justice, and immigration reform that defends the American Dream for all.

SEIU Local 521 Director Robert Li received the Philip Vera Cruz Award presented by SEIU President Mary Kay Henry.
