Bargaining continues in Tulare County

Purple up! Tulare County’s bargaining team will meet again with the county on Thursday to push back their proposal for stagnant wages. The bargaining team is asking for items that will improve working conditions:

  • Binding arbitration, so that discipline is more fair.
  • Allowing members to carry only phone and getting a stipend equal to the cost of a county-issued phone.

So far the team has met with the county three times. The county’s proposal is:

  • No raises, no steps, no merits, no moving up
  • One week of furlough each year
  • No sick time buy-back

The bargaining team countered by asking for the return of steps and merits, plus parity with what sheriff’s deputies get for health insurance.
