Judge rules for 521 against Kings BOS

Here’s one benefit that comes with belonging to SEIU Local 521: We know how the law works.

And a judge’s recent decision in Sacramento proves it.

The Kings County Board of Supervisors had unlawfully changed its rules governing contracts midstream in June at the request of CLOCEA, in its bid to weaken the strength of SEIU workers. We fought back. SEIU 521 members sued the county asking the state to make the county follow the law.

And the state said yes, the county had broken the law when it did what CLOCEA asked.

That’s why SEIU 521 is the best union for Kings County workers. When the time comes to negotiate a contract, to defend workers against a bad manager, or to elect the best candidate to office, belonging to a strong member-driven union makes all the difference.
