Actions to Support Santa Clara County Supervisory Unit

Chapter Leadership Call for Actions to Support SEIU 521 Supervisory Unit

Our fellow union brothers and sisters in the SEIU 521 Supervisory Unit are in jeopardy. They’ve been negotiating with the County for the past month and a half with an expired contract since October 3. They’ve been asked to take 5% more reduction in take home pay than compared to the Master.

We need to act now to tell the County that any insult or injury to any part of our union is an insult or injury to the entire union. Also, allowing some of our union members take higher permanent cuts will set a bad precedent for future Master Negotiations.

Take Action:

– Tuesday, Nov. 1 – “Occupy Julian” Action from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 333 Julian St, San Jose.
You can park in the parking garage. Bring a tent, or just come and join the crowd! Come for the whole thing, or whatever time you can. Come in costume (purple ghouls, purple goblins!), or just come as yourself!

– Tuesday, Nov. 8 – Board of Supervisor Meeting, 70 W. Hedding, San Jose, at 8:30 a.m.
We will meet downstairs in the cafeteria at 8:30 a.m.
Join us to send the County the message that an injury to SEIU 521 Supervisory Unit is an injury to all.

– Every Day – email campaign to the Board of Supervisors
Email them and let them know what you think of the County’s effort to essentially hold the supervisory unit “hostage” and extort greater concessions:, Deputy County Executive that oversees all labor negotiations, Jeff Smith

Please RSVP or send questions to Vice Chair, Kathleen Stahr.
