Contract fights in the Valley

The scorching summer may be over, but things are still hot for SEIU 521 members in the Central Valley. Fresno County workers are keeping up the pressure on the Board of Supervisors. Tulare County workers are still demanding the county keep its promise from two years ago. And Kern County workers are holding firm against a BOS that’s still demanding only unnecessary takeaways.

The wealth gap between young and old Americans has shifted. Now, households headed by someone 65 or older have much MORE net worth than households headed by someone under 35?

A. 10 times greater
B. 33 times greater
C. 47 times greater
D. 80 times greater

The correct answer is C. The wealth gap between young and old Americans has reached historic levels, indicating that the next generations may be worse off than previous generations. New census data indicates that the typical U.S. household headed by someone 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under the age of 35. This makes the wealth gap nearly five times the 10-to-1 disparity of 25 years ago.
