At town hall meetings and rallies across the region, SEIU 521 members urged Congress members in 2011 to focus on creating jobs for our communities.
With state unemployment topping 12 percent in 2011, jobs took center stage for SEIU in August, when congressional representatives return to their home towns before going back to Washington.

Over the last week, more than 50 members of Congress in 27 states faced protests by voters in their districts demanding action on jobs. Unemployed Americans and other working people are fed up with politicians who protect corporate tax breaks and special loopholes for rich CEOs and big corporations, while backing job-killing budget cuts that will make the economy worse for the middle class.
