Fresno County Negotiation Update – March 9, 2012

SEIU Local 521 Fresno County Bargaining Team met with Fresno County for state mediation on March 2-3 and again on March 9. Both parties were required by the mediator to sign a confidentiality agreement in order to strive to reach an agreement, in light of the pending Public Employee Relations Board Hearing (PERB) on March 12-13 in Sacramento.

The Bargaining Team worked hard to secure a fair contract for our membership. Fresno County made minor movements but overall maintained the same position they have had since negotiations began. The county refused to deal with all issues and stuck to its “Last, Best, and Final Offer” that was imposed on SEIU Local 521 members effective December 12, 2011.

We are now moving to the PERB hearing on the Unfair Labor Practices charges filed on behalf of all employees represented by SEIU Local 521 against Fresno County. Our attorneys will be questioning CAO John Navarette and other county managers, who will be forced to testify under oath about their actions leading to the county’s vote to impose. SEIU 521 members will be present at the hearing to testify.

Bargaining Team members vow not to stop fighting for members until the county agrees to a fair contract!

Stand United with our Bargaining Team and let’s fight together!

Next Contract Action Team meeting will be held on:
DATE: Thursday, March 15, 2012
TIME: 6:00 -7:00 p.m.
Location: SEIU Local 521 – Unity Hall, 5228 E. Pine Ave., Fresno
RSVP: (559) 447-2579

More updates to come next week on the PERB hearing!
