Santa Clara County members: Protect your personal business/belief days

Please be sure to schedule your Personal Business/Belief Days no later than April 1, 2012. If you miss the deadline, you will be allowing your manager to schedule your Personal Business/Belief Day for you.

Please reference our contract language below from our updated contract that addresses this topic:

Article 12 — Leave Provisions

Section 12.1 – Personal Business/Belief Day

a) “All personal business/belief days not scheduled by April 1 of each year may be scheduled by the appointing authority, provided the appointing authority has not unreasonably denied a prior request. If a worker is unable to schedule or use the personal business/belief days credited in the first year of this agreement by June 24, 2012, the worker may, on a one time basis only and with notice to the appointing authority by April 1,2012, delay using any remaining personal business/belief days to the second year of the agreement, but no later than June 23, 2013.”

If you feel your union contract is being violated related to Personal Business Belief/Day scheduling, please contact your steward immediately and/or contact your contract enforcement department at (408) 678-3300.
