Yes, the Purple Train made its first stop in Santa Clara County at 1867 Senter Road on April 18, where dozens of Social Service workers climbed on board to hear about the campaign to “Take Back Our California!”
The noontime event was a chance for workers to grab some pizza and participate in a Purple Train Quiz that tested their knowledge on key issues affecting all Californians, including two important initiatives on the November ballot, one that will help bring revenues for jobs and services [YES!] and the other to silence workers in the political arena [BOOO!]
Watch the videos of the quiz, and take the quiz along with the contestants to see if you know the answers!
“We need to get people to shift from the day-to-day focus on ‘What is my caseload like today?’ to the bigger issues that we as union members need to be paying attention to,” said Roseann Berthron-Arechiga, Santa Clara County Eligibility Worker.
“We have to get the membership to understand, embrace and join in the fight for the critical issues—like raising revenues for our state budget and expanding retirement security to the private sector.”
The Purple Train Interactive Quiz Show will be making multiple stops in the coming months at different worksites in the county.
All future Purple Train stops will be announced on Facebook.
