SEIU campaign counters GOP effort to thwart health care law

SEIU Tuesday launched a campaign to inform voters about what they stand to lose if Republican lawmakers have their way and repeal the health care reform law. The campaign targets Latino voters and includes Spanish-language radio ads and major mailings in Colorado, Nevada, and Virginia.

The ads come just as the House of Representative today voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, a move that is no more than political posturing since there’s a zero percent chance that President Obama would sign into law a backward measure overturning a signature piece of legislation that he pushed through to ensure more Americans have access to health coverage.

Regarding the senselessness of the vote, SEIU President Mary Kay Henry said in a statement: “It is time for Republicans to accept that the Affordable Care Act is the law of the land and move on.”
