‘Twas the night before Christmas, and 521 members and allies were busy delivering gifts to Valley Medical Center patients and ensuring they receive some holiday cheer.
Members were from the 521 caucus People Working with Disabilities (PWD), a group of workers who have physical or mental disabilities and/or work with people with disabilities, or who are just interested in advancing the rights of people with disabilities.
This holiday season they were joined by community ally National Association of Juneteenth Lineage. The groups delivered gifts to be placed on patients’ beds on Christmas morning, including stockings for neonatal beds and holiday outfits for babies to wear home.
“This is PWD’s fourth year and it is such a delight to participate with our hospital on behalf of workers and patients.”
Ellen Rollins, SEIU Region 6 Vice President
