Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors candidates John Leopold and Zach Friend visited our membership meeting in Santa Cruz on March 22 and thanked members for their support.
John Leopold is running for re-election in District 1 and Zach Friend is running in District 2.

Leopold was elected to the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors in November 2008 and was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Chair of the Board for 2012. He also served as Associate Director of Working Partnerships and helped design the Children’s Health Initiative, which provides health insurance coverage for nearly 10,000 local children.

Friend currently serves as the Crime Analyst and Public Information Officer for the Santa Cruz Police Department. He earned his Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and worked for Congressman Sam Farr. He worked in both houses of Congress and took a position in his last year with the International City/County Management Association — an organization that strives to improve the management of local governments.
Members have also endorsed Eric Hammer for District 5 Supervisor.
