Local 521 Luisa Blue joins International Executive Board

Earlier this year SEIU Local 521 members had voted Luisa Blue to be our Chief Elected Officer and in May, top SEIU member leaders nationwide affirmed our good judgment and appointed Luisa to the SEIU International Executive Board.

As a member of SEIU’s governing body, Luisa will be a strong advocate for working families and public workers who perform vital services throughout our 17-county Local. Read SEIU’s press announcement here.

“The diversity of our union is a source of pride for SEIU members. When our members speak out about our shared vision of a more fair and just society, they truly are doing so on behalf of diverse communities across this country,” said SEIU President Mary Kay Henry.

“I look forward to be Local 521’s champion at the International level. We have so many amazing member leaders and together, our  campaigns for Retirement Security for All, successful implementation of health care reform, and organizing child care providers have earned Local 521 widespread respect across SEIU. Let’s keep fighting until we win!”
