On April 23, 2013, your SEIU 521 Bargaining Team returned to the table to discuss and exchange counter proposals. The Bargaining Team has proposed the contract become effective September 1, 2012 and shall remain in force till August 31, 2014.
The county has offered a wage increase of 1.25 percent in 2013 and 1.25 percent in 2014. The bargaining team had proposed three percent increases both years with retroactive increases back to September 2012.
Under Medical Coverage the Bargaining Team proposed language that the county shall contribute $13,000.00 annually ($1,083.33 per month) towards the cost premiums for medical benefit coverage for unit members and their dependents. The county counteroffered with no increases for medical coverage.
Retirement Benefits: The Bargaining Team proposed for any worker with 10 or more years of service with the county, the county will increase from 50% to 100% the contribution to retiree medical cost. The county counter offered with no increases for retirement benefits.
The county is stating there are no funds available to fund any additional increases for SEIU Local 521 members. The Bargaining team has requested additional financial information to conduct a detailed comparative analysis before moving forward.
