What’s in the new state budget?

The state budget for 2013-14 has been approved by the Legislature and is awaiting the Governor’s signature. Although the analysis is yet to be finalized, there is good news for working families, despite the conservative estimates that Governor Brown used. Child care, school funding, in-home support services, and the courts all got incremental increases in funding. More.

County workers to Supes:

Make banks pay, save services

Hundreds from the Community First Santa Clara coalition held a Big Bank Bake Sale and rally June 18 to urge county officials to recover millions of dollars Santa Clara County lost to bank interest rate fraud.

County workers also rallied for quality services and a quality contract.

Bakersfield City workers overwhelmingly approved a new contract that includes a 2% increase in pay, uniform allowance increases, and inequity pay increases for certain classes. More.
