Healthcare marketplaces will open on October 1, and SEIU will begin planning “Get Covered, Get Healthy Affordable Care Act” kick off events nation-wide during the first half of October.
October 1 is coming soon, and SEIU 521 is “all in” to see working families across California gain the healthcare coverage they need to live healthier lives. SEIU 521 will do an outreach campaign to make sure that our communities know their options under the health care law.

If you or your family members are uninsured, you may qualify for affordable health coverage under health care reform. SEIU Local 521 was one of only 15 groups to receive a $1 million grant to conduct community outreach about the availability of affordable health insurance through Covered California. We’ll soon be reaching out in your community! Read more.

“The 85 percent of Americans who have insurance have more choices and stronger coverage than ever before. And for the 15 percent of Americans who don’t have insurance, or families and small businesses who buy their coverage but aren’t happy with it, a new day is just around the corner.”
– HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius

SEIU was named a “Champion of Coverage” Sept. 10, 2013 by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as President Henry announced our national effort to reach working families in more than 30 major metropolitan areas with the facts about how to get covered.
SEIU nurses brought their voices to the event, too.
