Members ratify contract with MAOF

MAOF-2013-03-580pxAfter more than four years of contract negotiations and federal mediation in an effort to reach an agreement, MAOF (Mexican American Opportunity Foundation) and SEIU 521 bargaining team members reached an agreement on Sept. 15 which was later ratified by 99% of the voting members on Sept. 23.

This is a huge victory for workers who fought for affordable health care benefits and to protect their rights on the job when dealing with layoffs and reduction of work hours.

MAOF and SEIU 521 are also committed to working together over the next two years to look into providing affordable, quality healthcare for employees in accordance with the Affordable Care Act, including promoting MAOF program services within the community in an effort to increase school attendance which impacted by budget cuts caused by sequestration.
