Town hall with Evan Low, candidate for District 28

Town hall 11/13/2013Members from SEIU 1000, UHW, and SEIU 521 participated in a town hall interview of Evan Low, a candidate for Assembly District 28 on Nov. 13 at the SEIU 521 office in San Jose. The 28th Assembly District includes the cities and communities of Burbank, Cambrian Park, Campbell, Cupertino, Fruitdale, Lexington Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, San Jose, Santa Clara, & Saratoga.

Town hall 11/13/2013Paul Fong formerly held that seat and his term has expired. Evan is the current Mayor of Campbell and has proven to be a staunch supporter of working families, attending rallies and authoring opinion pieces in the media advocating for public pensions and bargaining rights.

Among the issues raised by members: How to restore services and the public workforce. Evan responded that the common issue from the questions was that the state needs more revenue and we need to work together to be ensure there’s adequate funding for vital services.

Members from the participating unions will make their recommendations to the SEIU State Council Executive Board.
