Thursday promises to be not “business as usual” at 70 W. Hedding St.
SAN JOSE – Workers will hold a sit-in at Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors’ offices today until they can meet with the elected officials to resolve grievances.
SEIU Local 521’s In-Home Supportive Services workers have been bargaining with the county since December. Four out of seven scheduled negotiations sessions were canceled by the county representative; the county has not responded to the workers’ proposals; and information requested of the county has not been provided.
“We will be there to ask for one thing: Respect,” said Ellen Rollins, a home care worker. “Respect us as working people and show us respect at the bargaining table.”
WHAT: Santa Clara County home care workers stage sit-in action
WHEN: 10:30 a.m., TODAY
