Over a hundred Monterey County workers rallied on July 19 to demand a fair contract.
The Monterey County budget is balanced, yet the county is asking its employees to increase its contribution to PERS, which literally means a net decrease in pay. Workers have not received any increase in wages or COLA for the past five years, while the cost of living in Monterey County has increased. Meanwhile, management has given itself wage increases.
We believe in quality services provided by a quality workforce. The county needs to invest in frontline services and workers now!
