Next Step: General Membership Meeting

Cubberley Community Center Theater

SEIU Brothers and Sisters,

I want to thank everyone that was able to attend last night. Many of you had to rearrange your schedules to make your attendance possible and there were those that wanted to attend but were on the job.  You were there in spirit and we felt your support!  For those that did not attend, don’t fret, we will have other opportunities in the future for you to show your support.  Although, we had a great turnout last night and our voices were heard, this is only the beginning – we cannot relax – we do not have a contract!

Our voices were loud and clear last night.   We voiced to Council that the safety of our employees and the safety of the public are in jeopardy because the City cannot attract or retain skilled and experienced employees. We also brought to Council’s attention that the ability to provide the high quality of services to the community is diminishing because we are forced to do more with less.  We want to find solutions that will resolve the wage disparity between our employees and the competition.   These issues will remain at risk if we don’t come to agreement.  We asked City Council to direct their negotiating team back to the table to work together with us.

The time and energy spent at the negotiating table is not an easy task.  In addition to being at the table, your bargaining team representatives donate their personal time to accomplish any tasks that need to be done to achieve a fair contract for you.  So, if you see one of your bargaining team members, take a moment to thank them for representing you at the table.  (Margaret Adkins; Luis Uribe; Eli Serumalani; Peggy Quillman; Oscar Godinez; Josh Wallace; Anthony Mouton; Peter Quiroz; Erwin Gonzales)

Thank you for the great speeches by Pete Quiroz, Jesus Cruz, Aaron Miller, Nelson Primeaux, and Lane Pianta.

The following are links to media coverage.  Remember that try as they may, the newspapers very rarely get the facts completely accurate.  We will be sending rebuttal letters to the editors.

Thank you Kevin Carley for the pictures below.
