SEIU Local 521 is partnering with KMC and other community organizations to host the KMC Health & Enrollment Fair on Saturday, March 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kern Medical Center.
Our goal is to provide free education about and enrollment into quality, low-cost or no-cost insurance plans, and private counseling for Covered California, Medi-Cal and CalFresh.
We are expecting about 300 attendees and feel this is a great opportunity for KMC workers to put our Community First and show that we are all in this together when it comes to our safety, health, and well-being.
We are inviting volunteers to help with checking people in, directing traffic, answering questions, and providing translation services.
We need volunteers to help with:
- Traffic direction
- Answering questions, general information
California is recognized as a model for the country in our outreach and enrollment efforts – and the contributions from county workers have been widely acknowledged.
If you can help at the KMC Health & Enrollment Fair on Saturday, March 29, please email Ashley Cohen no later than Monday, March 24 at firstname.lastname@example.org. The commitment to volunteer includes participating in one brief planning call on Thursday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. and one in-person meeting an hour before the event.
Certified Educators from Local 521 have already reached nearly 125,000 people who are likely eligible for financial assistance through Covered California. The KMC Health & Enrollment Fair is one of four enrollment events SEIU Local 521 is coordinating during the final days of open enrollment.
