How low can Fresno County go?

Community First - Fresno CountyThe Fresno County Board of Supervisors changed the rules for donating sick time a few weeks ago to limit how much workers could donate to each other. A group of members who are already fighting battles against their own illnesses went to the board to fight this battle too.

It is unacceptable that the county would abandon workers who have given years to public service who are now in dire need of help.

The boardroom was nearly silent on May 20 as each person took the microphone and talked about how their fight was compounded by the board’s decision to keep workers from helping each other by donating time. Sandy Medina spoke about how her MS had kept her out of work and how she’s returning to work next week despite her doctor’s advice. “I love my job and I want to work and help people. If I had more time, I would be able to do more.”
