This fall in Fresno County, we’re all in to help get Blong Xiong elected to the Board of Supervisors. Members in Fresno County have been working without a contract for years. It’s time for a change and Blong is with us! The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) Caucus held an event for Blong recently where we registered voters, signed more people up for the APALA Caucus and got more members involved and motivated to win for our union and for our community. Blong has fought for working people while on the Fresno City Council and now we’re going to help move him to the next level. “We know Blong stands with workers,” said Alysia Bonner, Supervising Office Assistant II. “We need to get our friends and neighbors out to vote for him.”

The event was called, “This is our home. Fresno County matters.” Too often, our elected officials hesitate to fight alongside working-class people for the places we call home. Blong has the passion and courage to stand with us and do the right thing. He spoke at length about growing up in Fresno County and his commitment to investing in Fresno. Jennifer Jensen, Job Specialist III, said, “This is exactly why we stand with Blong. It’s time to get rid of the same old BOS.”

Blong is the first elected Asian American City Councilmember and he is the first Hmong City Councilmember in the state of California. Blong is a long standing leader in the Asian Pacific American community and will advocate for working people standing together. Please join us in electing him as the first Asian American County Supervisor in Fresno County.
