Raise the Minimum Wage to $15 per hour in Mountain View

Tell Mountain View City Council to raise the city’s Minimum Wage to $15 per hour, as Seattle’s City Council voted unanimously back in June 2014.

We need a livable wage for one of those most expensive places to live! When Mountain View adopts a Livable Wage, other South Bay cities will follow!

Mountain View is more expensive to live in than San Jose and the proposed $10.15 per hour is still poverty wages.
$10.15 * 40 hours * 4 weeks = $1,624/month.

Do Mountain View’s City Council Members really believe that $1,624 in pre-tax income is enough to pay all of one’s living expenses in Mountain View?

Attend the public input meeting TODAY:
WHEN: Monday, September 8, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.

(Free child care provided.)

Bike Party Ride to Public Input Meeting (13 miles):
WHEN: Monday, September 8 at 6:00 p.m.
WHERE: San Jose City Hall, 200 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113 (Santa Clara St. & 4th St.)

Find out more and let us know if you will join us on Facebook.

If you are unable to attend, please post a public statement on the wage increase – anonymously if you wish – on the city’s website.

Also, today is the last day that Santa Clara County is accepting testimony about the price we pay to live in Silicon Valley.

We must keep up the momentum to leave no question about the need for a comprehensive living wage ordinance to ensure that tens of thousands of taxpayer-funded jobs have middle class wages, earned sick leave, access to full-time hours, and more.

Minimum wage is meant for kids, people going to school, etc.. Not for people who have 3, 4 + kids and think we owe them more. I totally disagree with raising the minimum wage. Everyone should learn to live within their means and if it’s unaffordable here move somewhere else. The union needs to realize that we don’t all agree and our voice needs to be heard too.
