Celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

During Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we celebrate the accomplishments of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, and we reflect on the many ways they have enriched our Nation.

Like America itself, the AAPI community draws strength from the diversity of its many distinct cultures — each with vibrant histories and unique perspectives to bring to our national life.

From game-changing labor movements to the many cuisines of Asia to the significance of iconic public transit, here is a list of this year’s programming that further illustrates some of the many diverse stories of Asian and Asian American culture. Check local PBS and public TV stations for a schedule in your area!

To engage and maximize the power of 18 million Asian American Pacific Islanders living in the U.S., SEIU has re-launched the Asian American Pacific Islander Caucus (AAPI), furthering our commitment to reach out to all communities. Read more here.

Meanwhile, the APALA Caucus continues to promote a greater understanding and respect in the Asian Pacific Islander cultures within the diverse membership of SEIU Local 521.

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month in May, Fresno APALA Caucus hosted its 7th Heritage Celebration on Saturday, May 9. To see what the APALA Caucus is up to, click here.
