SEIU 521 members have reached a tentative agreement with Salud Para La Gente, resulting in significant gains, including salary increases, bilingual certification pay and secure seniority rights.
Base pay for Salud workers will be increased to $15 per hour for all current and new hires, benefiting Custodians, Medical Assistants and Patient Services Coordinators. Anyone currently in these classifications who makes more than $15 per hour will also see a proportional increase.
Other contract gains include:
- Medically Qualified Spanish Interpreters will receive a $2 an hour differential.
- Career development and tuition reimbursement increased to $300 per year.
- 1.5% increase to base salary when workers reach their 10 year anniversary.
Starting July 1, 2016, all employees will receive a cost-of-living adjustment of 2.5%, once a year through July 1st, 2019 for a total of 10% over four years.
Our #FightFor15 campaign continues to reach more low-wage workers! A higher minimum wage lifts up the lives of our members and reduces poverty in our communities.
