Stewards like Alan perform many roles, but fundamentally they help re-balance the boss-to-worker power structure in the workplace so that frontline staff have a stronger voice at work.

Retirement Security: SEIU members speak up for those without
Nearly seven million Californians in the private sector who have no retirement savings plan at work are one step closer to achieving better retirement security thanks to the strong and steady advocacy of SEIU members over the past four years. California legislators are set to vote next week on Secure Choice – SB 1234 (De León) which would automatically enroll most uncovered workers in individual retirement savings accounts.
SEIU 521 Retirement Security for All Committee has been rooting and pushing for this legislation since its inception. Join our committee, change lives!
Thousands of workers from across the country convened in Richmond, VA over the weekend to make a powerful statement to Fight for $15 and a union and to highlight the crisis of today’s falling wage floor and the effects of racist policies that have held back working people of color.
Nearly 300 child care workers – with a large contingent from California – joined them.
