Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for Haitians will expire in just a few months and The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will announce their intent to renew by next week. The lives of 50,000 Haitians are at stake.
Let the DHS know that TPS for Haitians must be renewed now.
TPS was granted to 50,000 Haitians after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti where 1.5 million people were displaced. TPS allowed them to stay in the U.S. and work here legally. Since then, Haiti has suffered two more catastrophes: a cholera epidemic that killed 9,500 people and just 7 months ago, a hurricane that still leaves 1,250,000 Haitians, including half a million children, without safe water. Haiti needs time to heal.
Together we must defend our immigrant communities. Without TPS Haitians may be forced to return to Haiti and face hunger, disease and possibly death. Call DHS and tell them that TPS for Haitians must be extended: 1-202-618-5172.
Ending TPS for Haitians would be cruel and would subject them to mass deportation. We cannot turn our back on the Haitian families that call America home, who have raised families and contribute to their communities, the U.S economy and to the rebuilding of Haiti.
