On Father’s Day Celebrate the Power of Union Dads

On Father’s Day, we celebrate the power of union dads.

Union dads benefit from the power of collective bargaining. People who join or form unions negotiate for $200 more a week compared with people working the same kind of job without a union. The difference adds up to more than $10,000 a year, which can help a lot when raising a family! If you include other benefits such as healthcare insurance, the difference between union members and non-union workers grows. Also, you get a voice at your workplace.

Unfortunately, just a few days before Father’s Day, the Trump administration revoked President Obama’s immigration action DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents) on June 15, 2017. DAPA had the potential of changing the lives of 4 million people and was a step in the right direction to fix our broken immigration system. The Trump administration’s move to officially revoke DAPA is another attack against immigrant families, mothers and fathers with longstanding ties to our country and our communities, who are here raising children.
