2018 November Election Kickoff

Well-funded, anti-worker groups are doing everything they can to rig the economy against us while helping elect officials to move their agenda. This year, THE STAKES ARE HIGHER than they’ve ever been for our democracy and we need to be involved.

Canvass for Don Rocha, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors Candidate
The Board of Supervisors make key decisions that affect our communities, funding for some of our agencies and programs, and they have the final say on some of our contracts and jobs. Members in Santa Clara County are getting ready to negotiate their contract next year. We have been able to win fair contracts in the past because Santa Clara County has a majority of pro-labor Board of Supervisors. However, in this election, we are at risk of losing our majority. That is why this election matters. Come and join us!

Canvass for Measure M – Rent Control & Just Cause Evictions
The cost of housing in California is a major obstacle to working families who are trying to make ends meet. Up and down our state, housing insecurity impacts members of our union, especially in places like Santa Cruz County. As part of our November election campaign to support more affordable housing, members of our union voted to endorse Measure M, which will prevent exploitive rent hikes and arbitrary evictions, as well as establish a democratically elected rent board to bring due process to the landlord-tenant relationship.
