Transparency in California's Health Care System
Take Action Today to Improve California’s Health Care System!
You can make a difference! Advocate for transparency in our health care system, and promote safe, accessible quality health care for all. The Senate Appropriations Committee will be meeting on August 4th regarding important new legislation introduced in Sacramento that would help consumers make better choices surrounding their health care.

asking the Senate Appropriations Committee to pass ABs 2942 and 2967 on to a vote of the full California State Senate.
AB 2942 (Ma) and AB 2967 (Lieber), both supported by the SEIU Nurse Alliance, would require a wide range of healthcare providers to give important information to the communities they serve.
AB 2942 would require all California hospitals to report what kinds of community benefits programs they provide to the public and the state, so that hospitals could focus benefit activities for those communities that need them the most.
AB 2967 would require a wide range of healthcare providers to report cost and quality data, radically improving the information available to help purchasers and patients make better decisions, improving quality of healthcare and reducing costs.
During our June 11th Nurse Alliance lobby day visits, SEIU nurses concluded that ABs 2942 and 2967 were important bills that would help educate Californians about the quality of healthcare being provided in their communities. Keeping consumers in the dark only benefits institutions that have something they’d rather hide.
