Santa Clara Co. Workers to Supervisors:
Save Our Services
SEIU members attended a public hearing June 10 at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to speak out against budget cuts and the harm that service reductions would bring to the community.

The board of supervisors is holding three days of public hearings before adopting the 2008-09 budget on June 13.
"We have a great reputation and history because of excellent patient care," said Carlo Leynes, a Hospital Service Assistant. "By reducing the workforce at Valley Med, the county will hurt the image we’ve worked so hard to earn as well as compromise patients' safety needs."
Members arrived to show support for fellow workers and also to advocate for the community.
Said Ruben Garcia: "At a time when the state is threatening cuts across the board, we need you, our county leaders, to step in and re-thread the community’s safety net."
