Something remarkable happened at Bank of America's annual meeting. A majority of Bank of America's shareholders voted to oust Ken Lewis as Chairman of the company's board. This is a result of what SEIU members and their allies did around the country to hold Bank of America accountable.

Workers Highlight Firings at Camp Recovery Center

The alarming number of missing employees at the Camp Recovery Center has become a growing concern for employees still working there, and retaliation for supporting their union is the prime suspect. On April 23, a crowd of about 100 supporters – including Santa Cruz County Supervisor Mark Stone – held a media event to honor their loss and support the Employee Free Choice Act.

Immigration Accord by Labor Boosts Obama Effort

The nation's two major labor federations have agreed for the first time to join forces to support an overhaul of the immigration system. The accord endorses legalizing the status of illegal immigrants already in the United States and opposes any large new program for employers to bring in temporary immigrant workers.

Look What We've Accomplished!

The economic stimulus package has passed, a comprehensive healthcare reform is at the top of the President's agenda, and all but two California congressional Democrats have signed on as co-sponsors of the Employee Free Choice Act.
