Liz Morris and Measure I Pass With Endorsement of SEIU Workers
Read the flyer >>
November 6, 2007
-- Not only did we achieve a great contract including the Cesar Chavez holiday, but our City Council candidate, Liz Morris, won the race against seasoned local politicians, and Measure I passed. Measure I, which is a one-cent sales tax to benefit the City's general fund, has been on the ballot for the past three elections without support from the community.
We need a minimum of three votes on the Delano City Council to win fair labor contracts, and with Liz Morris on board, we believe we now have those three votes.
Furthermore, SEIU workers showed their power in the political arena with this big win. Thanks to the City of Delano SEIU members and SEIU staff for blanketing the City of Delano to spread the message of Liz Morris and Measure I. We have shown our power and it's the power of purple!
