"AN AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED"

Thank you for voting "YES"!

Recent "wage re-opener" negotiations took place in the month of April and since you voted yes, CCLS employees will soon get some of the largest wage increases seen in years!

A summary of the agreement is as follows:

Effective 04/25/07 a new wage scale will be adopted that establishes uniform increases of 4.5% between each step for all classifications. Implementation of the new scale guarantees an average salary increase of 2.71%.

Effective 04/25/08 an additional 4.5% step will be added to ALL classifications (except law grad).

Effective 04/25/08 a 3% Cost of Living Adjustment will be added across the board.

Effective 04/25/09 a 2% Cost of Living Adjustment will be added across the board.

Effective 04/05/09 each party has 2 non economic re-openers.

The Contract will be extended to 04/04/10.

In addition, the following contract language will be amended:

 ARTICLE 12 - SALARY ADMINISTRATION

When an employee is first hired by CCLS, he/she shall receive the salary indicated in Step A in the salary schedule pertinent to his/her staff category unless the Director determines that due to the new employee's experience or training, the employee should be paid at a higher step on the scale. Within budgetary limitations, the Executive Director may in his/her discretion, advance the starting salary of any new employee one step on the salary schedule for every full year of experience in legal services or work similar to legal services. to a step which accounts for the experience of the new employee and is consistent with the salaries of existing employees with comparable experience. Any employee denied credit for experience due to budgetary limitations shall have his/her salary increased to the appropriate level as soon as, in the discretion of the Executive Director, budgetary limitations abate sufficiently. If full recognition is not immediately possible due to budgetary limitations, partial salary adjustment may be granted. It is the intent of this provision to provide full recognition as soon as possible. Job announcements for bargaining unit positions shall include a statement paraphrasing this paragraph.
