Shafter City Employees Finalize Contract
Shafter City Employees in the Public Works unit finalized a two-year agreement with a salary increase of 4% in the first year and 3% in the second year.
Members also won an additional 1% bonus this December and reached an agreement with the city to re-open contract negotiations if more funds become available.
Sick leave, vacation and CTO will now count as hours worked, for the purposes of computing overtime.
Also, the maximum accrual for CTO increased from 80 hours to 120 hours.
For bereavement leave, an employee's stepchild, step-parent, step-brother/sister, spouse's grandparent and registered domestic partner are now added to the list of covered individuals.
The city will continue to pay the health premium for employees and eligible dependents. The reimbursement for optical was also increased to $300.
