Public Sector Lobby Day
August 28, 2008
Sacramento, CA
Join Us!
The Budget Crisis Affects All Publis Service Workers
• Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has recently signed an order to eliminate thousands of part-time and temporary positions throughout the state and ordered that up to 200,000 workers receive the federal minimum wage of $6.55 per hour.
• Lawmakers have yet to agree on a spending plan, leaving California without the ability to pay contractors, the higher education system and legislative employees.
• Democrats and Republicans remain divided over how to close our states $15.2 billion deficit, with Republicans opposing all new tax increases, and Democrats pushing for $8.2 billion in new taxes on corporations and the state's wealthiest residents.
All Public Service workers are invited to join us on Thursday August 28th for a Public Sector Lobby in Sacramento.
We will be traveling to the State Capital Building for the sole purpose of supporting our Public Sector workers throughout the State, and letting our politicians in Sacramento know that their treatment of Public Sector workers is unacceptable to its residents. This will be an excellent opportunity for concerned Californians to speak out and to raise the issues and concerns they have regarding not only Public Service workers, but also about our State’s budget crisis in general.
Make our collective voice louder by joining us to demand that our politicians end the foolish talk of more cuts to our already depleted Public Service Sector!
