The Right to Representation – “Weingarten Rights”
If you are ever called into an interview meeting with your supervisor or manager so they can investigate a situation which might result in discipline, you have specific representational rights.
You also have specific rights if your union negotiated a contract for your chapter. Your contract will spell out the terms of the grievance procedure your union has negotiated. Contact your Steward for more information if you have any concern or issue at work (Your steward is listed in your Chapter web page).
Working people in America have certain basic legal rights to safe, healthy, and fair conditions at work. Sometimes employers violate these rights. Our website will help you find assistance if your employment rights are violated, with links to government agencies that investigate complaints.
NLRB Jurisdiction and the Posting of Employee Rights
The new requirement to post a Notice of Employee Rights under the National Labor Relations Act applies to all employers under the Board’s jurisdiction, except for the U.S. Postal Service.
