COE: Mandatory Reporting

SEIU 521 wants to protect our workers as well as the children and adults with disabilities we serve at COE.

From time to time we get questions about your rights and responsibilities when it comes to reporting abuse whether you have actually witnessed it or suspect it because of signs and indications you notice. We know you have been trained annually, but sometimes questions come up and people are not sure what to do. The most important thing to do is report to the authorities immediately by phone and in writing within 36 hours.

Please make sure to call your union steward and the Union Contract Enforcement Department at (408) 678-3300 if you have question or concerns after you have reported as required to protect the vulnerable individual(s). You should never be made to feel uncomfortable or disloyal if you report abuse or suspected abuse.
