Monterey County moving to change who will govern NMC
The Board of Supervisors voted in July to rapidly move forward with plan to remove Natividad Medical Center from under Monterey County’s oversight, and create a “Public Authority” to oversee NMC  instead. The change in oversight is being called a “governance change.”

This timeline for this change is now Nov. 1, 2012.

NMC survey results
SEIU 521 members completed surveys regarding the change. Members overwhelmingly identified these concerns:

  • Job security and retirement
  • The ability of NMC to provide high quality care for the community and engage with the patients on the Governance Change

Members also expressed their strong interest in having a voice in the legislation and the county ordinance that will create the Public Authority.
