MAOF Workers Reach Tentative Agreement and Are Ready to Celebrate the New Year!!
On December 27, MAOF workers in Monterey County reached a tentative agreement 57 days after their contract expired. In May 2016, over 100 SEIU 521 members of MAOF went on strike for 7 days after years of zero wage increases and concessions. While on the strike line, workers reached with the MAOF management of Los Angeles, a contract extension to October 31 that resulted in a 3% raise and language improvement.
Today, SEIU 521 members have a 2 year agreement that provides a total $.97 cent raise over the next 2 years, up to $65 for CPR re-imbursement per year, no change on healthcare and significant language improvements including pushing back managements proposal to lay off during winter season and instead we agreed on a voluntary winter staffing program.
MAOF members will now vote to ratify the agreement, which the Bargaining team is recommending a YES vote.
When members FIGHT and UNITE, we WIN!!
