Two years ago, SEIU Local 521 members voted for a dues change in order to “harmonize” the different dues rates localwide. We developed a three-year plan with the final rate to reach 1.5 percent of gross regular wages starting January 2012. This applies only to chapters that negotiated a wage increase since 2010.
Our Chapter won a wage increase in our last contract negotiations and, as such, our dues will increase from 1.45% to 1.5% starting in January. The .05 percent rate change is equivalent to one hour of pay per year.
Dues rate for Retiree members remains at $5.21 per month. This is the final dues change as voted by the membership in 2009.
“It’s been a tough year for many of us but what our economic problems have shown me is belonging to a union makes a huge difference. Let’s continue building our union power and fighting for a fair economy for all Americans.”
