Each day SEIU 521 members at Natividad Medical Center answer the call to provide quality health care and emergency services to Monterey County residents.
Their hard work has paid off big. Natividad Medical Center has now earned the coveted designation as Monterey County’s first trauma center.
This means instead of airlifting victims to a San Francisco Bay Area trauma center many miles away, Natividad Medical Center will treat the area’s most seriously injured patients, including victims of everything from auto accidents to gunshot wounds.
The Monterey County Board of Supervisors approved the new designation on Oct. 1 and SEIU 521 members are ready and excited to start the transition to the official Level II trauma status.
“Our SEIU 521 members are ready to continue supporting doctors and nurses in making this Level II trauma a reality. This is an exciting time for Monterey County residents and we look forward to continue working with the county and Natividad Medical Center in making sure we are prepared with a sustainable plan that the board and community feel is realistic and fiscally responsible.”
