On Tuesday, May 20, the Tulare County Board of Supervisors recognized SEIU Local 521 as the exclusive collective bargaining representative for workers in Bargaining Unit 2!
More than 200 maintenance, construction and custodial staff from Unit 2 join SEIU Local 521, which currently represents thousands of Tulare County workers across five bargaining units. Organizing a union had been a long and difficult process for Unit 2 workers, who were unrepresented for nearly a year before the Board of Supervisors vote on May 20.
Now, Unit 2 workers join a member-driven organization that puts Tulare County members in an even stronger position to protect jobs and improve working conditions and benefits.
