Recently Unionized Chapters Within SEIU Local 521

  • Child Care Providers United (CCPU) 
    • Formed in 2019 to give home-based child care providers a collective voice to negotiate with the state for better pay, health care coverage, and retirement funds. CCPU won it’s first state-wide contract in 2019 secured a 20% rate increase, a $40 million training fund, and established health and retirement funds for providers.
  • First 5 Santa Clara County 
    • Formed to join SEIU Local 521 in 2021, the First 5 Santa Clara County chapter won its first union contract in February of 2023. The union contract secured workplace safety implementation, wage improvements, and employer accountability language.
  • City of McFarland 
    • Formed to join SEIU Local 521 in the fall of 2022, workers represented include: Maintenance, Administration, Public Safety, Animal Control, and Water Treatment, among others.
