“SEIU California leaders filed charges against Dave Regan alleging a pattern and history of bullying, threats, harassment, physical violence and attempted extortion. Two independent legal investigations examined these charges, as well as Regan’s allegations against the State Council. Their reports largely confirmed the charges against Regan and discredited his allegations.

“Our first responsibility as an organization is to lead with our values. We stand with all those who are bullied, harassed, or targeted at work, and we stand by our charges. Our national union must now act swiftly to carry out our internal due process and ensure accountability to our values. Every leader is responsible for their role in protecting and promoting respect, workplace justice, gender equity, racial justice, and nonviolence in our union and beyond.

“Since these reports became public, labor leaders and elected officials across California have denounced the behavior described in the reports or called for Regan to step down.

“We are grateful to all those standing in solidarity with the members of SEIU California as we continue to lift up working people and their communities and create an equitable, just and prosperous California. While we hold individual leaders accountable in this moment, we also continue our collective work to eradicate the systems that perpetuate oppression, injustice, violence and inequity across our country.”
