BREAKING: Tentative Agreement Reached!

Member ratification on the tentative agreement will begin on Wednesday, October 14th at 7:00 AM and conclude on Thursday, October 15th  at 7:00 PM. Our bargaining team made up of your fellow City of Bakersfield workers is recommending a YES vote to accept the Tentative Agreement. Pending the results of our membership vote, the tentative agreement will then be voted on by the city council of Bakersfield for approval.

How To Vote

Our membership vote will be conducted completely online. To receive as many notifications as possible by Wednesday, October 14th, you must have a current email and phone number on file. Election Details

Start date and time: Wednesday, October 14th, 7:00 AM

End date and time: Thursday, October 15th, 7:00 PM

Election Format: Virtual online ballot. Eligible members will receive an email and text message from ELECTION BUDDY to cast one vote to accept or reject the Tentative Agreement. One vote per member.

Highlights from the agreement:

•10-hour employees will receive 10 hours of paid time off for 5 of the 13 holidays (previously paid time off only covered 8 of 10 hours of vacation/comp) 

• Won jackets and hats for employees who work outside as part of their job description 

• Comp Time- Slight change to language on process 

• Certification Pay- Added two classifications to receive between $500-$750 per year 

• Grievance process- SEIU 521 will be meeting with other unions and city management to address a new grievance procedure, and possibly revising municipal code
